Manipulating Vegetation through Timber Harvesting

Walker Lumber Co Inc in Clinton, MI uses it's professional staff of foresters to meet with land owners to discuss goals and objectives for the property. After the forester has a good feel for the landowner's objectives the prescription can be applied for marking the trees for removal. This is when specialty prescriptions can be applied to manipulating vegetation to create bedding areas for deer, elk and bear as well as nesting sites for wild turkey, grouse and a variety of song birds.

Wild life travel corridors, from feeding sites to bedding areas, can be created by manipulating vegetation. A well managed property will have thermal cover to help wildlife endure the harsh winter months. This can also be done by altering existing vegetation or by tree plantings.
