About WLI

Walker Lumber Company was founded by the Walker brothers in 1887 in Boggs Township, Centre County, Pennsylvania, in the heart of "Penn's Woods," so named in recognition of its impressive forest by the state's founder William Penn. After a brief stint in West Virginia, the Walker Lumber Company returned to Woodland, Pennsylvania, to stay. At that time, the state was covered with premier pine and hemlock forests, which fed the legendary forest products industry that endures today. It was the harvesting of that generation of trees that resulted in the creation, through clear cutting and subsequent natural regeneration, of the finest hardwood forests anywhere.

Walker Lumber Company now is ideally located in the heart of the Appalachian Hardwood Region and at the epicenter of the Black Cherry Capitol of the World. This allows us access to the great stands of beautiful, large  Cherry known for its fine color and texture. Cherry comprises approx. 50% of Walker Lumber's 7 million board feet of annual production. We also harvest quality Red Oak and Ash. Our Red Oak is know  for its consistent color, lengths,  and widths. While most do not think Pennsylvania as being White Oak country, we have developed resources to enable us to procure and produce some of the finest in the state. As a fully integrated sawmill and drying facility. We also manufacture all of the major Appalachian hardwood species. Primary are: Soft Maple (red leaf) Sap & Better and Hard Maple 1 & 2 White.

Not only do we offer Pennsylvania stock, we are able to draw on the resources of our parent company, Hardwoods of Michigan, which enables us to supply the best of both Northern and Appalachian regions. Because of this we can offer a much more broad array of products as compared to most other suppliers.

At Walker Lumber we produce lumber that is on grade, on color, and on time. We produce relationships, not just sales. We produce professionals, not just jobs. And we look forward to producing your next load of Pennsylvania hardwood lumber!
